Our Itinerary

Our itinerary is pretty much locked in. Bookings confirmed.
22nd March -fly to Amsterdam - 3 days in an appartment in the Jordaan area.

Bike hire likely.
26th March - fast train to Paris - 6 days in an appartment in Montmartre. Hope to soak up a bit more village atmosphere  in this part of Paris. Going underground to visit the Catacombs, various street markets, less popular streets like Rue de Martyrs and shops around Abbesses. There is plenty to see and experience apart from the obvious Parisian sights.
Unfortunately the rented Vespa ride that I would like to do requires a motorbike licence - I thought this wouldn't be necessary, you know, being a risk-taking tourist away from home. We're also going to spend a day at Versailles, just a short train ride out of Paris. Mostly hope to hang out in a few local cafes and bars and pick up a Gaulloise + absinthe addiction. At the very least I'd like to beat a few locals at table soccer.

1st April - return to Amsterdam - 1 night in appartment in Brouwersgracht.

2nd April - fly to Venice - 5 nights in the Dosorduro district (cool appartment with a loft bedroom for Anika which requires acrobatic ladder-climbing skills)

7th April - return to Amsterdam - pick up camper - 2-3 days in Holland to visit cousin Marianne in Driebergen and Tante Nel in Zoetermeer. Might catch some tulip fields if they are blooming.

9th April - drive south to France  via Luxembourg.
10-12 days in Provence
2 day drive back to Holland

24th April - fly back to Sydney - arrive Anzac day in Sydney.

  1. Wow Peet, is this really a picture of your camper? What is the bizzo at the rear there? Don't park in any underground car parks.

Anyway, love the look of your blog and your itinerary sounds great.

Have an aperitif for me (you can keep the Gaulois) and have a great time.

  2. That bizzo at the back is called a garage. It is below our bed and will hold two bikes, our suitcases and anything else we don't have room for in the van. Last trip we used it as a cellar and a pantry as well.
I promise to give up on the Gauloises. Absinthe could become a very guilt pleasure. Table soccer a necessity.
And... thanks I like the look of the blog too but all credit must go to the guy who made the template.
